Amba Sayal-Bennett works across drawing, projection, and sculptural installation. Her practice explores how methods of abstraction are exclusionary and performative, crafting boundaries between what is present, absent, and othered. She is interested in how abstraction has been used as an essentialising mechanism through its divorcing of context. Using translation, her works follow a migratory logic, tracing the movements of bodies, knowledge and forms across different sites, processes inherent to the diasporic experience.
